Viet X. Luong , Vietnamese Refugee To Become American General




The news of appointment of Colonel Viet X. Luong to be Brigadier General has generated enthusiasm and pride among Vietnamese community across the globe. 39 years after the Fall of Saigon, a son of ARVN has made to the rank of general in American military.

This is a feat of American Exceptionalism and a thriving Vietnamese community. The political system deserves the credit of allowing the immigrants to achieve their full potential and their American dreams. Appointments of high-ranking officials not the acts of a prince or president, but require the consent of the Senate.
Colonel Viet Luong is the only son in a family of seven daughters. His father served as a  Marine Corps Maj. Republic of Vietnam. They came to the USA after the Fall of Saigon in 1975. Viet Luong has been serving a colonel since 2009. He has been selected with other 36 colonels to be appointed Brigadier General pending on the Senate’s approval.
